New 2005 Global Skills Report Spanning 179 Countries

July 12th – Brainbench released a unique, highly detailed snapshot of the globalization of job skills. The new report is the third in a series begun in 2001, and summarizes data from more than 300,000 individuals worldwide. The report's findings offer some surprising results, as well as creating a highly quantitative overview of the emerging global, information-based economy. Kenexa’s Jun 19th IPO appears to have been a good move. Trading on the NASDAQ under KNXA, the stock is up to 12.90/share (Jul 18) from a 12.00 opening price, giving the new public company a $215.35M market cap. On the heels of this announcement, they also report that Caterpillar will use Kenexa survey services worldwide. Read about the IPO []

Gov dumps Monster QuickHire

Not good: Lost job applications for some 230,000 people trying to find work with the Department of Homeland Security. After reports in April of problems using QuickHire from the Department of Health and Human Services, Monster finds it’s contract terminated by the Customs Division. Monster denies they lost the data.
