Synopsys Case Study

Synopsys is headquartered in the heart of the Silicon Valley where competition for technology talent remains consistently fierce. Synopsys receives more than 50,000 resumes and hires more than 300 employees per year utilizing a variety of staffing strategies. The Synopsys corporate staffing team includes 25 recruiters and supports more than 700 hiring managers.

Before implementing Deploy, Synopsys was using a legacy hiring system that could not keep pace with the company’s global requirements, which included coordinating candidate feedback and approvals at the local, regional and international level. Much of the company’s global processes were paper-based: creating requisitions; securing approvals; and assembling offer packages. Synopsys wanted a system that would allow for global data sharing and that would streamline global staffing processes, improve EEOC compliance, improve resume processing accuracy and turnaround time, and have the ability to run reports to track specific sources of resumes received.

Synopsys also needed its hiring system to be fully integrated with its e-mail system and, due to its global presence, provide a web-based portal for worldwide access. “We have a very mobile management force,” said John Rimbach, Sr. Employment Staffing Specialist at Synopsys, ”so moving to an automated, completely electronic talent management system was key.”

Solution

Synopsys found what it was looking for in Deploy Solutions. Synopsys currently utilizes Deploy in 18 countries to manage electronic recruiting, applicant tracking and talent optimization. The company has seen increased efficiency in all requisition, offer creation and approval processes. Field offices and international locations have particularly benefited from this system and the improvements due to automation. Measurable results include:

  • 28% decrease in the time it takes to approve a requisition;
  • 42% decrease in the time it takes to approve an offer in those locations; and
  • 97% improvement in processing time of Employee Referral resumes.

Improving EEOC compliance was another critical objective driving the selection and implementation of Deploy according to company officials. The company has configured Deploy to meet their compliance needs, including the enforcement of a clear applicant definition policy and the consistent provision of voluntary self-identification forms.
